PRESS: Russia may prolong offshore asset amnesty for 2016
MOSCOW, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- The Russian government could prolong an offshore asset amnesty for one year, business daily Vedomosti reported Tuesday citing unspecified government officials.
Under the law, Russians were allowed to declare assets, banking accounts, securities and stakes in companies registered in offshore countries and start paying taxes in Russia without criminal persecution if tax avoidance took place before January 1, 2015. The law is in force until December 31.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in November that the amnesty had so far brought little result.
